Audience

Personnel requiring knowledge of RPG programming.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of data processing, programming concepts, and the AS/400 Operating System.

Objectives

After completing this course, the student should be able to:
  • Outline the concepts of RPG Programming, including the structure of RPG, the RPG cycle, and
  • the flow of control through an RPG program.
  • Outline and be familiar with the use of specification sheets.
  • Recognize and use RPG data types, opcodes, and indicators.
  • Identify variables and constants.
  • Detail and understand the functioning of arrays, elements, and data structures.
  • Recognize and detail RPG/400 naming standards.
  • Outline functioning indicators and identify major groups of indicators.
  • Use and/or avoid certain indicators.
